Elon Just Put Anthropic in Plaid Mode
SpaceX's compute just doubled Claude Code rate limits for every developer. That's not a product update. That's unlocking the powertrain.

Today, Elon Musk handed Anthropic's customers the keys and said floor it.
SpaceX's Colossus 1 data center is now powering Anthropic's infrastructure. Three hundred megawatts of new compute capacity, online within a month. The immediate result: Claude Code rate limits doubled for every Pro, Max, and Team user. Peak-hour throttling, gone. The ceiling, raised.
Plaid mode. For developers. Courtesy of the guy who invented it.
This is what Elon does. Across every company he has built, the throughline is the same: identify the constraint, build the infrastructure to remove it, and do it at a scale that makes the old version look quaint. Tesla did not just make electric cars. It built the energy stack to charge them, store power at home, and feed clean electricity back to the grid. SpaceX did not just build rockets. It made them reusable and drove the cost of reaching orbit down by an order of magnitude, then beamed internet to the corners of the planet that never had it via Starlink. The Boring Company is literally drilling through the earth to fix how cities move.
The thesis across all of it: abundance is a physical infrastructure problem. Build enough of the right infrastructure and the future starts happening faster.
Today that thesis collided with Anthropic's. Dario Amodei has spent years building the AI company most serious about getting this right. Constitutional AI. Responsible scaling. Real safety architecture baked into the foundation, not bolted on afterward. The reputation Anthropic has earned is that when they ship something, the guardrails are real.
Put Musk's infrastructure under Amodei's models and something interesting happens. The physical layer gets bigger. The rate limits come off. The guardrails stay on. And the developers building on top of it, the ones actually shipping products and solving problems, get to go faster without the AI equivalent of hitting a speed limiter on the highway.
That is what doubled rate limits actually means. Less waiting. More building.
Elon put Anthropic in Plaid mode today. Buckle up.
